“Through the Eyes of a Pirate” is dedicated to providing engaging articles that present alternative solutions to the everyday political problems caused by current events. As a journalistic blog examining political events as they affect Canadians and people across the world, the writings tend to take on the view that information is meant to be shared, people are meant to learn and everyone has a right to learn and grow together in a sustainable environment. TTEOP is officially non-partisan and writers are encouraged to examine the views of minor parties in addition to those with seats.
TTEOP deals with news topics as they relate to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and the International Community. With site readership growing steadily since the site’s original inception in 2007, the chief editor has elected to expand the authoring base and recruit additional Citizen Journalists/Authors to assist in making TTEOP a worthy source of news and Op-Ed for people across the country.
Articles on TTEOP follow strict Editorial Guidelines, running between 350 – 700 words for most articles and containing at least one 650 x 280 image (either original or licensed under Creative Commons). All articles are released under CC 2.0 BY-NC-ND.
We happily accept one-time submissions from Guest Authors, but are eagerly searching for long-term Citizen Journalists to join our editorial board and help determine TTEOP’s direction in the future. If interested, please e-mail the editor and provide a short writing sample, your preferred frequency of posting, and a short bio. A recent & clean photograph will also be required should your application be accepted for display on your author page.
At this point in time, all positions are strictly voluntary.
