Although smaller than originally planned, down to 56,000 square feet from 100,000, the Fabio Belli soccer dome has finally broken ground. Located at LaSalle Secondary School, the non-profit is on track to open in January 2020.

An indoor soccer dome provides local players the opportunity to continue their development through the long, harsh winter months we endure here in Sudbury. As a result, teams can expect higher quality players making their way into the summer pipeline.

This increased access to training facilities throughout the year strengthens the foundation needed to put a local Pro or Semi-Pro team in the city, whether that is in the Canadian Premier League (Division 1), a future CPL-2 (Division 2), or League1 Ontario (Division 3).

This is a positive step forward for the city.

No word yet on the private soccer dome.
